Look of the day
One of the best things about getting my monthly stack of beauty mags is looking through and seeing all the new transformations the starlets have gone through. I especially love the post break up moments the girls have after their divorces are announced- case in point Reese Witherspoon. Her make up is what I call new smoky- it's the same drama as the old smoky eye which was layers of dark shadow blended with heavy liner- this is just a fresh twist with a lighter palette. The colors she plays on are pinky, grey and plum tones. The sheer pinky natural lip and cheek play perfectly against her eye palette which is beautiful because her eyes are perfectly lined without seeing actual liner. The plum shade is used all around her eye and smudged out creating depth and making her blue eyes pop without being too harsh.
Try it yourself
- Use Stila Convertible Color in Peony on cheeks and over lip balm on lips.
- Use a shadow a shade darker than your lids all over the eye.
-At the lash line on the lid, line with a plum-grey color. Smudge the color moving upward blending into the lower lip of the brow bone, the shadow should get lighter as you work it up higher.
-Use the skin tone color under the brow and blend it down onto the darker shade until the two shades appear seamless.
-Take the same plum- grey and line the lower lashes then smudge it slightly under the eye.
It's an easy look to master because it isn't supposed to be perfect, it's smudgy so doesn't require a steady hand.
