TotalBeauty.com sends us goodies from time to time so we can let our readers (along with the beauty companies) know what we think. I was pretty happy this month since I opened a box of products I already have in my shower.
I was turned on to Aveda's Dry Remedy from my stylist even though I wasn't in love with the scent, I wanted the moisture. It's ultra rich and moisturizing and works so well to tame my thick, course hair.
She also gave me a great tip for getting your scalp super clean. Don't wet your hair before shampooing, just flick a little water on your hair, wet your hands and rub the shampoo into your scalp. Keep wetting your hands and adding water to get it to foam up. It's easier to get to your scalp without the barrier of wet hair and use less product.
The already reasonably priced brand de-luxe is having a huge clearance on Drugstore.com.
Among the good finds are; a full sized lavender lotion for $1, an almond and oatmeal bar soap set for $1.79, and the Shea Butter Gift Set (pictured) for only $12.
Other than the price, the clean, classic packaging is a huge bonus for gift giving.
Since most of us don't get manicures as often as we'd like, our hands often pay the price and our cuticles are the first to tell the tale of neglect.
I always have cuticle oil on my desk and use it at least once a day. When your cuticles look soft and smooth, everything else just falls into place.
You can pick up a little jar of vitamin e oil at any store or you can invest in CND's Solar Oil, a blend of several oils formulated for the cuticles with a heavenly almond scent.
Sets clockwise from left; Urban Decay Trifecta, Smashbox Beauty Blockbuster $105 ($217 value), Mystic Tan Kit $84 ($112 value), Sephora 10 pc Brush Set $72 ($150 value), Stila 21 pc Blockbuster $150 ($450 value)
Most of us have been so sidetracked by the lousy economy, election, and just life in general to notice that the holidays are pretty much here.
One of the best things about this time of year is the value sets you can find when companies try to clear out merchandise from this year to make room for everything new. Some gift sets, like Stila's Blockbuster, are perfect to split with a friend or two (both the products and the cost).
Also big for holidays, travel sized or mini editions- which are great stocking stuffers, or to keep in your personal travel bag year round.
Over the past year, readers have visited from 82 countries, translating the reviews into 38 languages giving me a whopping 85% loyalty rate- meaning most people come back for more.
I'll be making some changes including a brand new look debuting next week and also answering your questions personally since I receive so many emails.

Thank you so much for reading and making it possible for me to continue doing what I love!
From left to right; Bobbi Brown Corrector, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit, Jane Iredale Pure Gloss, Clinique Lash Powder Mascara, Shu Uemura Lash Curler.
Just to finish up what I use with the final few products...
I'm still loving Bobbi's Corrector/ Concealer to cover dark under eye circles. If I'm in a rush or don't feel particularly dark, I'll skip the Corrector and use the concealer for both the eye area and imperfections on the skin.
Jane Iredale's Pure Gloss in Cotton Candy is my fav light pink choice for most days to compliment my pinky toned cheeks. For days when I'm wearing a bronze palette, I go with Soft Peach.
Any lashes can benefit from the Shu eyelash curler. It's iconic. It's everywhere. It's as good as they say. It perfectly curls the lashes without kinks, and it sets the lashes to hold that curl throughout the day.
I think I'm on my 5th tube of Clinique's lash power- which is saying a lot. It really doesn't smudge and is easily removed with warm water.
